Going Green

Food Services Update (11/15)

As we enter the holiday season, I wanted to provide an update on my previous communication pertaining to shortages and menu substitutions.  The Monroe County Community School Corporation's food distributors and manufacturers continue to feel the effects of the nationwide supply chain and labor shortage. Unfortunately, these shortages and sourcing issues are predicted to get worse before they get better.

In spite of the long lead times, delivery delays, and strict national guidelines for school lunch programs, we want to assure you that we will continue to provide reliable access to daily meals that meet the requirements established to help our students learn, grow, and thrive.  Food service managers in the schools remain diligent in their communication with building administrators, secretaries, and health service staff about substitutions and replacements as well as accurate nutritional information for students with health concerns and dietary restrictions.

As Director of the Food Service Department, I would like to thank our dedicated staff for their continued service and creativity during these trying times.  A big thank you, also, to the students and families for your continued patience and support of the MCCSC Food Service Program. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly with any additional concerns.

Respectfully – Matt Tomrell, Director of Food Service
